Looking for things to do while you're not on the lake? Here are some of our favorites.
We love visiting Tonnemaker Hill Farms at their farmstand in Royal City. Not only do they have an incredible selection of fresh, organic produce, you can also check out the Columbian Mammoth bones uncovered on their property .
Northrup canyon is one of our favorite places for birding. Known for it's abundance of bald eagles, Cooper's hawks, great horned owls and other Columbia Basin natives, the scenery is well worth the drive. (We highly recommend the hike, too).
The Soap Lake Sundial was created in 2009 as a symbol of lasting beauty and reconciliation. Located at East Beach Park at the edge of Soap Lake, we find it a peaceful place to relax, take in the view, and occasionally dip our toe in Soap Lake's famous "healing waters."
Cloudview Kitchen is one of our favorite places to grab a treat or quick bite while we're traveling through the Basin. Located on Main street in Soap Lake, it's great atmosphere and eclectic menu (both food and drink) have yet to disappoint.
Visiting Dry Falls is a stunning reminder of nature's power. We love taking in the view from the historic park gazebo, learning how the Ice Age floods created the region, and getting a head start on our holiday shopping (it's never too early) at the visitor center and bookstore.
Hot? Yes. Rocky terrain? Yes. Amazing views. Also yes...and that is why we love a trip to the unique basalt caves at Lake Lenore. We suggest bringing rugged hiking boots, a bottle of water, and your phone to take some great pics.
Always a crowd pleaser, we visit the Moses Lake Surf n' Slide Water Park all summer long. Some of our favorite features include the lazy river, 200' water slide, and making sandcastles at the outdoor playground.
